Postcard from Japan

09/10/2011

My parents often say that my bf and I are really nerdy couple. But I take it as a compliment, because we are proud of our geekness. Dating in the book stores, gadget stores, or post office is cute. Sending snail mails when we were separated by distance is lovable too.

When was the last time you received a real "love letter" which you could hold it by your hand? For me, it was last Monday. A most awaited postcard of the week was arrived on my desk. He picked out a postcard of Watari-Um in Shibuya, Tokyo. According to him, it is an interesting Contemporary Art Museum that was designed by Mario Botta in 1990. Botta is a Swiss architect whose buildings are often made of brick. Yet for this museum, he used concrete.

There are two stamps with each face value of ¥ 80 attached on the back of the postcard. Actually, it is absolutely redundancy! Because if you only attach a piece of ¥ 80 stamp, it is enough already to deliver your postcard to overseas par avion. What was his argument about this? "Sayang kan bun kalau cuma kirim satu aja, soalnya dua perangko itu gambarnya nyambung." Mr-Talented-Architect is so addicted to aesthetics. He wasted money for the sake of sequential beautiful pictures! I am appreciated it though. Indeed, the pictures are so undoubtedly pretty. It depicts a river-front village with lush greenery and Japanese people doing activity at the riverside. Kawaii!
